Cost Management:
- China, Hong Kong, and Singapore successfully reduced energy costs per square meter in 2017, continuing a positive trend from previous years. For example, Hong Kong reduced energy costs by 0.6%, while Singapore saw a 10.2% decrease.
- Despite general reductions in water usage, countries like India and Japan reported significant decreases in water costs, with reductions of 35.2% and 62.1% respectively.
Adoption of Sustainability Practices:
- Energy tracking remains the most widely adopted practice, with 99% of hotels in the region participating. Preventive maintenance programs are also prevalent, with a 97% adoption rate.
- The report highlights the growing implementation of LED lighting, with 75% of hotels reporting that at least 75% of their interior spaces are equipped with LED lights, up from 43% in 2016.
