Report

Bali Hotels & Branded Residences 2024

In 2023, Bali’s hotel market experienced a remarkable rebound, surpassing peak 2019 RevPAR numbers by a whopping 37% (entirely ADR driven). The only performance matrix sliding is ALOS down to just over 3 days, no doubt impacted by ADR increases – in it for a good time, not a long time. By rate category, luxury resorts’ ADR soared and the upper-midscale resorts nailed RevPAR. Outstanding occupancy in both Kuta and Legian (Sanur boomed) and rates at resorts in Jimbaran / Uluwatu surpassed expectations. Bali’s branded residences sector is on an upward trajectory this year, bolstered by strong demand for second homes and investment into leisure-oriented real estate.

Bali Hotels & Branded Residences 2023

The 2023 edition of the Bali Hotel & Branded Residences Report by Horwath HTL provides a comprehensive analysis of the market dynamics, performance metrics, and outlook for Bali’s hospitality sector. This summary highlights key findings from the report. 2022 marked a significant recovery for Bali’s tourism industry as travel restrictions were eased and eventually removed. A quarantine-free trial period and Visa on Arrival (VOA) program initiated in March 2022, expanded to 86 countries by September 2022, fueled this recovery. Foreign arrivals surged, particularly from May onwards, with December 2022 numbers only 32% below pre-pandemic levels. Domestic tourism remained resilient throughout the pandemic, providing a crucial lifeline.

Asia Pacific Hotel Sustainability Trends 2022

Greenview and Horwath HTL are pleased to present the annual Asia Pacific Sustainability Trends 2022 report, which is published for the seventh consecutive year. This report presents results of the 2022 Horwath HTL Asia Pacific Hotel Industry survey. For this year’s report, a total of 2,586 hotels across 15 countries participated by contributing information about their uptake in sustainability practices as well as utility data from 2021 calendar year. The data is compared against a 2019 baseline to provide insight into the average changes in energy and water consumption and costs by country and service type pre and post pandemic. Additionally, sustainability practices undertaken by hotels were also analyzed to understand implementation status at the country level. Continuous spreading of awareness and scaling of solutions globally will enable further advancement in this region. We are proud to support the industry’s effort to benchmark best practices in sustainability, with the results of this report contributing towards publicly available industry-wide initiatives for hoteliers to understand their properties’ sustainability standing: the Cornell Hotel Sustainability Benchmarking study, Green Lodging Trends Report and Greenview Hotel Footprinting Tool. We would like to acknowledge and thank the Honorary Advisory Board for the Horwath HTL annual hotel industry surveys and the supporting Country Hotel Associations for their participation and strong support.

Bali Hotels & Branded Residences 2021

The year 2020 was particularly challenging for Bali’s hotel and tourism industry due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While international arrivals plummeted, the domestic market provided a vital lifeline for the island’s tourism sector. The outlook for recovery has improved with the rollout of vaccinations beginning in February 2021.
