Strategic Master Plan for Tourism Development of Fruška Gora
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia engaged Horwath HTL to create a Strategic Master Plan for the Tourism Development of Fruška Gora for the Municipality of Irig.
Project Scope
Horwath HTL was engaged by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia to design a Strategic Master Plan for the Tourism Development of Fruška Gora within the Municipality of Irig. This initiative aimed to unlock the tourism potential of the region through a well-structured, comprehensive planning process.
The methodology encompassed a detailed situational and market analysis, resource and attraction assessment, and demographic and infrastructure evaluation, complemented by benchmarking against global best practices. This foundation was enhanced through field research, stakeholder consultations involving public and private sector representatives, and a thorough review of relevant strategic documents. The market analysis, informed by supply-demand dynamics and global tourism trends, supported a robust SWOT analysis and helped pinpoint development challenges unique to the region.
The master plan integrated several core components: a technical study to evaluate tourism potential, a development study assessing infrastructure feasibility, and a business master plan analyzing economic viability and investment requirements. These components were meticulously documented with textual explanations and graphical representations, including analog and digital maps of priority projects and development proposals.
Actionable strategies were a cornerstone of the plan, featuring a detailed roadmap and implementation timelines for sustainable tourism initiatives. The plan emphasized the alignment of local development efforts with international standards, ensuring Fruška Gora’s appeal as a competitive and sustainable destination. This strategic framework positions the Municipality of Irig to achieve long-term tourism growth while preserving the region’s natural and cultural heritage.
