Disney Hotels brands development strategy
Shanghai Disneyland Hotels
Project Scope
Horwath HTL was engaged to provide strategic market and financial analysis for the two hotels within the Shanghai Disneyland Resort area, a key component of the Shanghai Disney Resort. This iconic theme park, a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company and Shanghai Shendi Group, began construction in April 2011 and officially opened its doors in June 2016. Our role focused on delivering insights that would inform the hotels’ strategic positioning and financial performance within this landmark development.
We developed detailed market and financial projections, assessing both room night demand and food and beverage (F&B) demand from two key segments: theme park visitors and external guests. Our analysis included an evaluation of guest demographics, travel patterns, and the broader tourism market in Shanghai to determine the optimal pricing strategy and occupancy levels for the hotels.
In addition, we conducted comprehensive supply and room rate analyses, benchmarking against comparable properties in the region. We also created cash flow projections and other key financial indicators, which provided a clear understanding of the hotels’ potential profitability and return on investment.
By delivering these insights, Horwath HTL helped the Shanghai Disneyland Resort position its hotel offerings for long-term success, ensuring they aligned with the park’s overall growth and visitor experience strategy.
