Willy Sono is Peru's Country Manager. As a senior executive with over 40 years of multinational experience in Mexico, the United States, and Peru, he has held leadership roles in hospitality, consulting, and corporate management, including Sales Manager at Thunderbird Hotels & Casinos, Developer of Best Western Lima, and advisor to multiple Boards of Directors. Currently active with BNI Peru and Social MWM Hoteliers, as well as a Partner at Worldwide Hospitality Network (WWHN), he combines extensive expertise in international business development, sales, and strategic leadership with a strong commitment to advancing the hospitality industry.
Bio
Willy Sono is a senior executive with more than 40 years of multinational managerial experience across Mexico, the United States, and Peru. His career spans leadership positions in hospitality, corporate consulting, sales, and business development. From 2007 to 2015, he served as Sales Manager and Corporate Advisor at Thunderbird Hotels & Casinos in Lima, contributing to the company’s growth and market positioning. Between 2016 and 2019, he led the development of Best Western Peru, strengthening international brand presence in the Peruvian hospitality market. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Reckitt & Colman, Gillette, and Marriott, gaining extensive experience in global operations, sales, and service management.
In addition to his executive career, Willy has served on the Boards of Directors of companies such as Baprosa Insurance Brokers, Traelsa (electroplating and ferroalloys), Corporación II Torres (finishing goods for the construction industry) and the Former Alumni Association of Colegio Franklin D. Roosevelt. Since 2015 to 2024, he has been actively involved with BNI Peru as Member and Consulting Director, fostering business networks and corporate collaboration. He is also part of Social MWM Hoteliers in Peru, contributing his expertise to the hotel and tourism sector.
Willy Sono holds a Master’s Degree in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Phoenix, USA (1982), and a BA in Economics and Inter-American Studies from the University of the Pacific, California (1978). He completed his early education at Colegio Franklin D. Roosevelt – American School of Lima, Peru (1973). His professional trajectory reflects a strong commitment to leadership, international business development, and the growth of the hospitality industry in Peru and beyond.
