Juan N. Méndez Wolfschoon, Consultancy Director of Horwath HTL (Hotel, Tourism and Leisure) has been in the consulting business practice in the Caribbean, South and Central America for more than twenty years. Additionally to his professional experience, Juan Méndez has more than 10 years teaching experience as a professor and lecturer at the Catholic University of Santo Domingo in the fields of Administration and Financial Budgeting, Accounting and Accounting Systems, and Income Taxes. In his role as Consultancy Director of Horwath HTL, Mr. Mendez has been responsible for the planning and execution of an array of advisory engagements in the hotel, tourism and luxury real estate industry. Among his experiences, Mr. Méndez has performed consultancy services, research and studies in planning, supervision and execution of hotel, luxury real estate projects, mixed use concept and tourism destination components in Central America and the Caribbean region. His work includes project developments and existing properties as well.
Mr. Méndez’s areas of specialization include the following:
- Tourism and leisure services including: tourism market research and trends, business plans, feasibility and market studies, operational marketing plans, best use concepts, the economic impact of tourism and hotel operational audit
- Planning and Development, including: appraisal reports, hotel management company selection, macro tourism analysis and strategic planning
- Asset management, including: benchmarking performance against industry standards and competitive sets
- Business valuation
- Transactional Advise; including financial due diligence process
Mr. Mendez has been trained in the transaction and corporate mergers and acquisitions services, financial due diligences, operational audit and feasibility studies for the hotel industry.
Mr. Mendez graduated with a degree in accounting (CPA), and went on to study a special program in Functional Management and accomplished a Master in Business Administration. Besides working in the Caribbean, Mr. Mendez also has working experience in South and Central America. Furthermore he participates frequently at several international tourism conferences and seminars in different countries and regions.
