Project Scope

Our office was commissioned by a hospitality management firm, to conduct a study on current practices and trends in clustering and shared services among major hotel groups. The primary objective was to identify effective strategies for resource optimization, cost reduction, and operational efficiency that could be applied within the client’s organization.

We initiated the project by researching leading hotel groups globally to understand how they implement clustering and shared services across their properties. Clustering involves grouping multiple hotels within a geographic area to share resources and functions, while shared services refer to consolidating back-office operations to serve multiple properties.

Our team analyzed various operational areas where clustering and shared services are commonly applied, such as sales and marketing, human resources, procurement, maintenance, finance, and information technology. We examined case studies and best practices, highlighting the benefits achieved in terms of cost savings, improved service quality, and enhanced competitive advantage.

We also identified potential challenges and risks associated with clustering and shared services, including implementation complexities, loss of property-level autonomy, and potential impacts on guest experience. Strategies for mitigating these challenges were explored, such as change management initiatives, technology integration, and maintaining clear communication channels.

The study provided insights into emerging trends, such as the use of advanced technologies like cloud computing, automation, and data analytics to support shared service models. We also noted an increasing focus on sustainability and corporate social responsibility within clustering strategies.

Based on our findings, we developed tailored recommendations for [Client Name], outlining steps to implement clustering and shared services effectively. This included identifying operational areas with the highest potential for benefit, proposing organizational structures, and suggesting key performance indicators to monitor success.

The final report equipped the client with a comprehensive understanding of industry practices and actionable strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service delivery through clustering and shared services.
