MR COVER US Lodging FEB 21

In the February 2021 edition of the Lodging Market Overview by Horwath HTL Atlanta, the vaccine rollout continues in the US, and most states saw a considerable improvement to RevPAR during February. Most notably, the Super Bowl LV host city, Tampa, FL, was the top-performing market for February despite restrictions on the number of attendees.

Late February saw the pick up of Spring Breakers, which lifted the Miami, FL submarket into the top 5 markets for the period. Overall, Florida had the strongest RevPAR of the entire US, which was $83.12 for the month, although it was still a 44.8% decline over 2020.

In March, total Traveler Throughput (TTT) showed a trend of continued growth as we passed over the 2020 “cliff” as a result of travel restrictions. All-in-all, we continue to see improvements to US Hotels, and March’s performance is likely to continue as leisure markets welcome the bulk of Spring Breakers.
