Sustainability Strategy for Hotel Group
Horwath HTL was engaged to develop a comprehensive sustainability strategy for a domestic hotel group, with a focus on aligning the group’s operations and practices with evolving environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards. The objective was to enhance the group’s commitment to sustainability while meeting stakeholder expectations and improving long-term operational resilience.
Project scope
Horwath HTL was engaged to develop a comprehensive sustainability strategy for a domestic hotel group, with a focus on aligning the group’s operations and practices with evolving environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards. The objective was to enhance the group’s commitment to sustainability while meeting stakeholder expectations and improving long-term operational resilience.
The project began with an assessment of the group’s existing sustainability practices, operational procedures, and resource usage. This involved analysing energy consumption, waste management, water usage, supply chain sustainability, and social impact initiatives across the hotel portfolio. The findings provided a baseline for identifying key areas for improvement and opportunities for greater sustainability integration.
Based on the assessment, our team developed a tailored sustainability strategy that included actionable recommendations and implementation timelines. Key areas of focus included energy efficiency enhancements, transitioning to renewable energy sources, waste reduction programmes, sustainable procurement practices, and the adoption of environmentally friendly materials and technologies.
We provided guidance on establishing measurable goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and demonstrate accountability. This included recommendations for integrating sustainability metrics into operational reporting and aligning practices with recognised certification frameworks such as Green Key or EarthCheck.
The strategy also encompassed staff training and stakeholder engagement to ensure buy-in and effective implementation across all levels of the organisation. We outlined a phased approach for the rollout of initiatives, enabling the group to achieve quick wins while working towards long-term goals.
The final deliverable equipped the hotel group with a robust sustainability strategy and a clear implementation plan, positioning them as a responsible leader in the domestic hospitality industry. This engagement demonstrated Horwath HTL’s expertise in crafting practical, impactful sustainability strategies tailored to the unique needs of hospitality businesses.
