The client sought to enhance transparency, align with evolving regulations, and demonstrate a commitment to sustainability to stakeholders.
Project Scope
Our consultancy was engaged to support a client in the hospitality sector with their non-financial reporting, focusing on sustainability and compliance with the EU’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) requirements, including the Directive on Non-Financial Reporting (NFRD) and its extension under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). The client sought to enhance transparency, align with evolving regulations, and demonstrate a commitment to sustainability to stakeholders.
We began by conducting a gap analysis of the client’s existing reporting practices against the requirements of the NFRD and the CSRD. This included reviewing their disclosures on environmental performance, social impact, and governance practices. Key focus areas included carbon emissions, energy and water usage, waste management, employee diversity, and community engagement.
To address identified gaps, we developed a tailored sustainability framework aligned with globally recognised standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This framework provided clear metrics and methodologies for tracking and reporting on ESG performance, ensuring compliance with EU guidelines.
Our team also supported the client in enhancing data collection processes, creating systems to gather reliable and consistent non-financial data across their operations. We provided training for internal teams to ensure alignment and understanding of sustainability goals and reporting obligations.
The final deliverable included a comprehensive sustainability report, integrating quantitative data with qualitative insights to communicate the client’s ESG initiatives effectively. We also provided strategic recommendations for ongoing improvement, helping the client position themselves as a leader in sustainable hospitality.
By adopting robust non-financial reporting practices, the client not only achieved compliance but also strengthened their reputation among stakeholders, reinforcing their commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices.
