Solomon Islands Tourism Investment Promotion

The International Finance Corporation (IFC, World Bank group) with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, InvestSolomons and a newly formed Tourism Investment Task Force had engaged Horwath HTL in Australia to complete an investor information package to take to market with the objective of attracting new investment opportunity for the Solomon Islands.

Project Scope

Horwath HTL Australia was engaged by the International Finance Corporation (IFC, World Bank Group), in collaboration with the Solomon Islands Ministry of Culture and Tourism, InvestSolomons, and the newly established Tourism Investment Task Force, to develop an investor information package aimed at attracting new tourism investments to the Solomon Islands. The package was designed to highlight opportunities primarily in the Western Province, a region with significant untapped potential for tourism development.

The engagement leveraged the comprehensive research and site analysis conducted by the IFC between 2017 and 2021, focusing on identifying investable locations and understanding their unique attributes and market potential. Horwath HTL built upon this foundation, translating the research into an actionable and market-ready investment promotion tool.

The investor information package included detailed site profiles, outlining key attributes such as location advantages, accessibility, infrastructure readiness, and potential tourism offerings. The package also highlighted the Western Province’s appeal, including its pristine natural beauty, vibrant marine environments, and cultural heritage, which collectively position it as a high-value destination for eco-tourism, adventure travel, and boutique hospitality investments.

To enhance its market appeal, the package incorporated strategic market analysis, financial insights, and investment case studies, providing potential investors with a clear understanding of the opportunities and expected returns. Supporting this, Horwath HTL included recommendations for public-private partnership models, sustainable development practices, and alignment with the Solomon Islands’ national tourism strategy.

The final deliverable is a robust and visually engaging package that serves as a key tool for the Solomon Islands’ tourism promotion efforts. It equips the Tourism Investment Task Force and stakeholders with the means to effectively present the country’s tourism potential to global investors, supporting sustainable economic growth and positioning the Solomon Islands as a premier destination for tourism development in the South Pacific.
