Hospitality Experience
BOH Planning for Large-Scale Resort Development in Orlando
Our client is a national real estate investment and development firm that owns, operates and develops residential, commercial and hospitality assets. The proposed resort is expected to have over 900 hotel rooms, 1,500 residences and a wide variety of shops and restaurants.
Project Scope
Our team was engaged to provide back-of-house (BOH) planning for a large-scale resort development in Orlando, Florida. The client, a national real estate investment and development firm with an extensive portfolio of residential, commercial, and hospitality assets, envisioned a world-class resort comprising over 900 hotel rooms, 1,500 residences, and a diverse array of retail and dining options.
The complexity and scale of the project required meticulous BOH planning to ensure operational efficiency, seamless integration across components, and an elevated guest experience. Our approach began with a comprehensive needs assessment, analysing the operational requirements for each element of the resort, from hotel and residential services to retail and F&B operations.
Key areas of focus included the design and optimisation of BOH spaces such as service corridors, loading docks, kitchens, storage facilities, staff areas, and waste management systems. We collaborated with architects, engineers, and operators to ensure these spaces were not only functional but also supported the smooth flow of operations across the entire resort.
Our planning process incorporated industry best practices and innovative
solutions to address the unique demands of a mixed-use development of this scale. We prioritised efficiency in space allocation and workflow design, ensuring that service areas could accommodate high volumes of activity without disrupting front-of-house experiences. Emphasis was placed on designing adaptable spaces that could meet future operational needs as the resort grows and evolves.
Additionally, we developed detailed operational frameworks to guide staffing, logistics, and maintenance within the BOH areas, ensuring alignment with the resort’s premium standards and guest expectations. This included strategies for managing shared services between the hotel, residences, and commercial spaces to optimise resources and reduce costs.
The resulting BOH plan is a cornerstone of the resort’s operational success, enabling seamless service delivery across all components of the development. By integrating practicality with strategic foresight, our involvement has set the foundation for a highly efficient and guest-focused resort experience in one of the world’s premier travel destinations.
