Melissa Maher is a Managing Director at Horwath HTL based in California. She is focused on assisting hospitality companies increase profitability by creating actionable items based on data, insights, and her global expertise in travel and technology. Maher is distinguished as a trusted advisor drawing on her experience and foundational understanding of commercial strategy, strategic planning, global marketing, industry engagement, owner partnerships, and diversity and inclusion to enhance overall operations and achieve best in class for their properties and portfolio.
Maher most recently served as Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President of Marketing and Industry Engagement at Expedia Group where she oversaw B2B Marketing, Communications, Industry Engagement, Strategic Initiatives and Events, Partner Loyalty, and Owner Relations. Prior to that, Maher was Expedia’s first Chief Inclusion Officer championing diversity and creating a sense of belonging for Expedia’s employees, customers, partners and communicates. Maher also served as Senior Vice President of Global Partner Group at Expedia where she set strategy and led the commercial teams in executing plans to maximize performance across the lodging division while cultivating and managing Expedia’s global strategic partnerships, including global brands, regional key accounts, and connectivity partners.
Active in the hospitality industry, Maher regularly participates in hospitality industry events and initiatives. She is an Advisory Board Member for Women in Travel Thrive. This movement advances women's equality in travel industry careers by providing a community, network, and resources to empower women to succeed. Maher is also an Industry Board Advisor at Thayer Ventures and serves as a Strategic Advisor for StayBoutique. She formerly served on the Women’s Leadership Advisor Board for WINiT by Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) and Hotel Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI). Maher received the Top 40 Women in Travel by WINiT accolade awarded to accomplished women who demonstrate strong leadership and vision in the travel industry, and Hotel Management named her one of the “30 Influential Women in Hospitality.”
Passionate about the travel industry from a young age, Maher holds both a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She earned Professional Executive Coaching and Life Mastery Consultant certifications from Brave Thinking Institute, and is currently a candidate for National Association of Certified Directors (NACD) certification.
