Tourism Sector Assessment for the North Pacific
A comprehensive analysis and investment opportunity assessment of the tourism sector in the North Pacific region, especially in light of the impact of COVID-19 on the travel and tourism industries.
Project Scope
Horwath HTL was engaged to perform a comprehensive analysis and investment opportunity assessment of the tourism sector in the North Pacific region, focusing on the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. The scope of our work was particularly critical in light of the significant impact of COVID-19 on global travel and tourism, requiring a reassessment of market dynamics and future growth opportunities.
Our assignment involved an in-depth evaluation of each country’s travel and tourism demand, assessing how it compared to the current supply of hotels and resorts. We conducted detailed market reviews to identify gaps in infrastructure, accommodation, and services, and evaluated how the region could capitalize on emerging trends such as sustainable tourism, adventure tourism, and eco-lodging.
A key component of our analysis was the identification of new, commercially viable investment opportunities. We developed a portfolio of potential projects, including both the expansion and refurbishment of existing properties, as well as the construction of new hotels and resorts. Each project was assessed for its risk/return profile, ensuring that opportunities were attractive to private sector investors and could contribute positively to the region’s economic recovery.
Our recommendations were designed to promote long-term sustainable growth while enhancing the region’s appeal as a travel destination. The result was a strategic roadmap that highlighted high-potential investments, with a focus on maximizing returns while managing risks in a post-pandemic tourism landscape. This initiative positions the North Pacific region for future tourism development and economic resilience.
