Tourism development project and feasibility study on the Monastery of Žd’ár nad Sázavou

Project Overview: The private owner of the Monastery of Žd’ár nad Sázavou, ambitioned to develop this monument as an attractive tourism and culture destination.
Scope of Work: Horwath HTL and INCA architecture studio were commissioned by the client to define a specific tourism concept, aiming at enhancing the Monastery of Žd’ár nad Sázavou and its outbuildings and facilities.
Horwath HTL Solution and Implementation: Horwath HTL conducted a strategic analysis of the regional tourism sector, and a study focused on tourism reception facilities. The expected annual attendance by target markets was estimated, entrance prices and additional revenues set, and draft statement of Business Plan, taking into considerations two hypotheses of grants, was drawn up.
All this enabled the definition of a global concept of enhancement of the Monastery as a nature and culture resort and the identification of the programmatic pillars (reception and welcome facilities, accommodation, cultural and leisure functions of the resort, etc.). Finally, Horwath HTL proceeded to the elaboration of global business plan taking into account each of the individual components of the project.
Project Status: The resort of Žd’ár nad Sázavou Monastery opened in October 2015.
