Art Hotel – Denver
Office: Horwath HTL Denver
Project Overview: Horwath HTL consulted with the developer of the Art Hotel in downtown Denver. The challenge for the developer and Horwath HTL was to plan and assist in the development of a hotel in a rapidly developing and very strategic part of Denver – a location adjacent to the Denver Art Museum. The Denver Art Museum is a facility located in the Golden Triangle/Civic Center district of Denver, Colorado. The museum is one of the largest art museums between the West Coast and Chicago. The second challenge was to see a hotel developed that would complement the adjacent, Daniel Libeskind dramatic expansion of the Denver Art Museum. In addition to the Art Museum, the area also contains the recently completed Colorado History Museum and the recently completed Colorado Judicial Center.
Horwath HTL Solution: Numerous concepts were studied and evaluated. Each concept (from a chain-affiliated, select-service hotel to an independent “high-end” property) produced different performance levels which impacted the overall project viability.
Implementation: As noted, this hotel project evolved over several years and several concepts. This “intimate” hotel, which ultimately opened as the Art Hotel in 2015 features 165 guest rooms and the “recognized” Fire food and beverage operation. It has been well-received by the “press” (USA Today ranked it one of the top 10 Best Hotels in the U.S.) and the public.
