    Scope of Work: Horwath HTL was engaged by Diplomat Hotels to assist with the adaptive re-use of the historic Carnegie Building in the downtown Atlanta area. This engagement included the brand selection, franchise agreement, tax credit funding, and management selection.

    Description of Project: The Carnegie Building in downtown Atlanta was originally built in 1925. Diplomat converted the building into a select-service Hotel Indigo in 2010 and then into a Courtyard later on that year. This 143-room boutique hotel features a lounge, restaurant, and fitness center.

This project is a public-private partnership, with the city and county working with private investors to generate economic revenue.

    Scope of Work: Southeast Holdings REIT engaged Horwath HTL for consultation in predevelopment services, the acquisition, branding, programming, financing, and purchase of the historic collection properties known as the Laura Street Trio in downtown Jacksonville, Florida.

    Description of Project: The adaptive re-use/mixed-use hotel will preserve and re-energize three of downtown Jacksonville’s most historic buildings: The Bisbee, The Florida Life, and The Florida National Bank. Included in the project is the Laura Street Addition, a new construction that features a rooftop bar and ground-level retail space. This project will revitalize downtown Jacksonville and create a destination spot for locals and transients alike.

    Scope of Work: Horwath HTL is consulting Foxhall Investors, LLC with the development of a full service, 350-room Westin Resort Hotel and Conference Center at the Foxhall Resort and Sporting Club in Douglasville, Georgia. This project is a public-private partnership, a joint venture that synergizes the city, county, and state with private investors in order to stimulate economic impact.

    Description of Project: Foxhall Resort & Sporting Club will be the first urban sporting club in the United States. In addition to the 350-room Westin Resort, Foxhall will feature a championship golf course, shooting range, archery, equestrian facility, and several other outdoor recreation activities. With its location less than 22 minutes from one of the world’s busiest airports, plus affiliations with brands like Beretta and Safari Club International, Foxhall will become one of the world’s premiere destination resorts.

    Office: Horwath HTL USA Category: Planning and Development Scope of Work: Horwath HTL was hired to conduct an executive training and development program for the Strategic Events Team to maximize cost savings when contracting and negotiating off site events. Description of Project: Our office developed and conducted an all day training workshop with strategies for F&B negotiations with hotels and cost savings strategies. The strategies presented to the executives helped the team understand hotels, their markets and seasonality as well as on how to negotiate catering sales in the current environment. We identified revenue management strategies that are advantageous to both parties, and provided information on current trends, changes and opportunities within the industry.

    Scope of Work: Working alongside HR Catalyst, and Carlisi & Associates for IHG, Horwath HTL was hired to help prepare multiple assessments for top-level regional executives.

    Description of Project: Horwath HTL was tasked with the assignment of analyzing and summarizing the property-level and the regional-level reports that dealt with financial performance, competitive performance, guest satisfaction, employee satisfaction and property highlights. This included analyzing property-level and regional STR reports, regional STR pipeline reports, income statements, guest and employee satisfaction surveys, as well as overall property performance. These summaries were used to administer different assessments to regional Vice Presidents and other corporate staff.

    Scope of Work: Horwath HTL was engaged by Rixos Hotels and Resorts to develop an executive leadership-training course for top-level executives.

    Description of Project: In conjunction with Sanbanci Universitie, Horwath HTL developed a program to teach regional vice presidents, General Managers, and senior-level corporate staff on executive skills. This training included modules such as leadership & coaching, corporate management, strategic planning, marketing, finance, and hotel operations.

    Scope of work: Market reviews for two hotels in Central London.

    Description of project: Horwath HTL UK conducted market reviews for two boutique hotels in Central London, specifically South Kensington and South Bank. The market research conducted for each property was part of a due diligence process undertaken for an investor considering the purchase of a property in London. One of the properties represented a potential conversion from a school into a boutique hotel. We were instructed to prepare an update of market study for the redeveloped hotel post opening.

    Project Status: Assignment completed successfully. Our client successfully acquired the hotel asset in South Kensington. The property has gone though a full refurbishment and reopened in the second half of 2012.

    Description of project: Horwath HTL UK prepared a feasibility study for a hotel development in Abuja, Nigeria, as part of a one million square metre mixed-use development. Following a site inspection and a market study, we concluded that there was an opportunity for an upscale hotel on the proposed site. Horwath HTL UK advised the proposed hotel be designed to target the business market, by offering meeting rooms, a business centre and a 750 square metre multi-purpose ballroom.

    Description of project: Horwath HTL was approached to provide a market and feasibility study for the midscale 30-key hotel development. As a result of Horwath HTL's analysis of the local hotel market and the subject site, we recommended the development of a larger scale hotel with additional facilities, which was more likely to generate profits for the developer.

    Project Status: The resort is currently being developed, and is scheduled to open in 2015. .

    Description of project: Horwath HTL was appointed to undertake a feasibility study for a select service upscale hotel in Soho, London. The chain already had one property in London and was looking to expand. Horwath HTL provided flexibility in providing a short form feasibility study, with which the developer was able to determine the viability of the project and most appropriate hotel size with a view to presenting their findings to a bank in order to fund the investment.

    Description of project: Since inception in 1989, the V&A Waterfront precinct has been successfully developed to encompass a large variety of mixed-uses and activities, including retail, commercial, leisure and hospitality, residential, and a working harbour. On two occasions, the Client considered incorporating additional Hotel developments within the Clock Tower Precinct of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. In the first instance, Horwath HTL was appointed to facilitate the hotel operator identification, approach, selection, and appointment process. In the second instance, Horwath HTL was engaged to “test” the hotel concept, associated proposed design elements, and functionality of the proposed scheme from a hotel operations perspective, make recommendations with regard to the proposed positioning, identify potential hotel operators most suited to such a hotel development, and approach these hotel operators to gauge their interest in the opportunity. The Client wished to review and explore urban design proposals for the development of the remaining bulk in the V&A Waterfront precinct. Horwath HTL (South Africa) was tasked with providing an analysis of the then current and anticipated future hospitality environment in the immediate surrounding areas of Cape Town CBD, Foreshore, and the Atlantic Seaboard in addition to the V&A Waterfront precinct. Following the most recent acquisition of the V&A Waterfront, the new Owners commissioned Horwath HTL to prepare a report which would provide the Client with insights into the Western Cape hotel environment which would assist them in evaluating the future development potential of the precinct’s hospitality offering.

    Description of project: Located in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront the One&Only Cape Town comprises 91 guestrooms and suites situated in the Marina Rise and a further 40 guestrooms and suites situated on the exclusive Island. An all-day dining restaurant by local celebrity chef Reuben Riffel, the speciality Nobu restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Nobu Matsuhisa, alfresco dining at Isola, and Vista - the lobby lounge/ bar area provide for guests’ food and beverage requirements. Conference/ banquet and meeting rooms are also provided for. Among the hotel’s leisure facilities, a day spa complete with yoga pavilion and relaxation rooms is complimented by a beauty centre and stated of the art fitness centre. KidsOnly provides a supervised program for children aged 4 – 11.

The residential component of the development comprises villas, apartments, and a Village Market. The hotel includes two restaurants, a bar, one ballroom, five meeting rooms, a chapel, and the Oubaai Clubhouse.

    Description of project: Our Client had secured a 220 000 square meter parcel of land situated on the Oloololo Escarpment in Kenya overlooking the Maasai Mara National Park. The project, upon completion, is envisioned to comprise thirty-eight luxury guest pavilions, three food and beverage experiences, sun-downer terraces, a health spa comprising four treatment rooms, a thermal suite, fitness centre and change rooms in addition to the ancillary areas associated with such a development. Our Client, in partnership with African Dream Collection, required an independent assessment of the project’s viability.

    Description of project Our Client was contemplating the development of a business hotel situated on High Street in the capital city of Ghana. Upon completion the hotel is envisioned to comprise approximately 136 guestrooms, 12 suites, 20 apartments, food & beverage outlets and conference facilities. Subsequent to our study, our Client secured a second site at Accra’s Kotoka International Airport which is likely to be the site of this proposed hotel. Our Client wished to enter into a management agreement with Carlson Rezidor to manage the proposed hotel under the Radisson Blu brand. Horwath HTL (South Africa) was tasked with negotiating the commercial terms of the management agreement on behalf of our Client.

    Scope of Work: The French Federation of Tennis launched a tender to relocate the international tournament of Roland Garros in a larger site as the 8-hectare site situated in the south west of Paris (Porte d'Auteuil) is not well adapted to host such a large event.

    Description of Project: Horwath HTL assisted the public development authority of Marne-la-Vallée in their bid to host the new stadium, the French Tennis Federation and the tournament. Horwath HTL designed a leisure and sport planning to keep the site attractive all year round.

    Project Status: The FFT finally decided not to relocate the tournament due to incremental space granted by the City of Paris. Marne la Vallee was ranked as the best alternative.

    Scope of Work: The Villages Nature resort is planned near Disneyland Paris. The project represents one of the most ambitious European self-contained resort combining accommodation and leisure facilities. Disneyland Paris and Pierre & Vacances jointly appointed Horwath HTL to provide an impact study for the project and related facilities.

    Description of Project: A 16-hectare land dedicated to the theme of nature and centred on one of the most important water parks in Europe; 30 000 m² of surface including 1730 lodging units (710 apartments and 1020 cottages) developed in 4 clusters.
