Jeffrey W. Binford is a Managing Director of Horwath HTL’s Dallas office. He is directly responsible for the firm’s practice in Texas and surrounding and regional states. Mr. Binford has a diverse background in the hospitality industry, including individual and multi-property management, market feasibility, appraisal, management agreements, franchise agreements, and hospitality developments. Focused primarily on troubled hospitality related assets, Binford works with many clients as Advisor, Receiver, and Asset Manager. Because of his expertise in hotel developments, he also assists clients with due diligence and feasibility studies.

Mr. Binford has almost 40 years of hospitality experience and served in executive management capacities with leading hotel management and franchise organizations. Previously, he served as Director of Development for USFS and Wyndham Hotel Group, responsible for new development of multiple brands. His efforts resulted in multi-year awards for both quality and quantity franchised developments. Prior to his affiliation with Wyndham, Mr. Binford held a variety of executive positions with major hospitality franchise and management organizations, and founded several hospitality-related organizations in Dallas, Houston, and Atlanta, including BHGI, a regional hotel consulting and appraisal firm. At BHGI, Binford had direct responsibility for the hospitality consulting practice, consisting of approximately a dozen experienced hospitality professionals and appraisers. The practice grew in just a few years, surpassing major national and international hospitality consulting firms in the region. Mr. Binford personally worked on hundreds of hotels, valued well over $1 billion with most industry brands, including Ritz-Carlton, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Hilton, Starwood, Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, Choice Hotels, and InterContinental Hotels Group.

Prior to BHGI, Mr. Binford was a Regional Vice President for two of the largest hotel management companies in the nation responsible for the company’s development of third-party management agreements. One of the companies was a small regional management company that doubled in size during Binford’s tenure, and later became the largest management company in the nation. The other was the largest third-party hotel management company in the world with over 100 hotels under management and annual revenues exceeding $500 million. Prior to business development for management companies, Mr. Binford served as Manager of the hospitality and real estate advisory practice for Pannell Kerr Forster, an international CPA and hospitality consulting firm responsible for the Dallas office practice. The practice consisted primarily of market feasibilities and appraisals, but because of his operational background, Binford was often called for diagnostic operational reviews of hospitality-related projects and litigation support. He also served in various managerial capacities for several hotel companies, including Hyatt Hotels, and Mariner Corporation. During his tenure with both companies, Binford was part of pre-opening teams for 300-room and 1,000-room properties. Binford had a reputation of internal controls and bottom-line performance at his managed properties

Binford holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the University of Houston's Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel Management. Binford holds the designation of Certified Hospitality Administrator from the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Lodging Association. He also has additional training in a variety of real estate, appraisal and development programs. Binford has served as an expert witness to a number of hospitality-related cases, and is frequently a keynote speaker, guest lecturer and panelist before a number of industry-related educational institutions, associations, and chambers of commerce.
