Horwath HTL, Italy launched their annual report into the state of hotel chains in Italy at the world famous Bocconi University in Milan. The launch, in front of 250 industry professionals from all sectors of the indstry, was held on the Bocconi campus during the ‘Investment Trends in the Hotel Industry’ event, organised by Bocconis’ MET – Master in Economics of Tourism programme in collaboration with Associazione Italiana Confindustria Alberghi and Horwath HTL.
The event, chaired by Magda Antonioli, Associate Professor in the Department of Policy Analysis and Public Management at Bocconi University and Director of the Master of Economics of Tourism and of the Tourism Lab (CLEACC) sought to explore the most recent and relevant trends affecting the Italian hotel industry.
Giorgio Palmucci, President of the Confindustria Alberghi who co-authored the chains report, Introduced the report and set the scene on the current state of the industry before the launch of the report by Horwath HTL. Horwath HTL were represented by James Chappell, Global Business Director who gave an overview of global trends in hotel performance and transactions, Zoran Bacic, Managing Partner of Horwath HTL, Italy, who gave an overview of the headline data before Giorgio Ribaudo from Horwath HTL, Italy and the author of the report gave a more in depth analysis.
After the presentation, there was a panel discussion by a group who are active in the owning, operation and lending to hotel assets accross Italy. The title of the round table discussion was ‘Staregies and Implications for the Italian Market’ based on their own experiences and what they had heard from the Horwath HTL report.
